The 1996 legend · reborn in first person

Diablo 3D

Stay awhile and listen.

Descend

Tristram · 1996

You remember it like this.

640 by 480. Two hundred and fifty-six colours. A town seen from far above, and your imagination filling every shadow.

Thirty years later

Same well. Same Cain.
Same town.

Now step inside.

Tristram · 2026

The way you always saw it in your head.

Full 3D. First person. Every cobble, thatch and lantern of the town you grew up in, rebuilt around the interface you never forgot.

II · Then & now

Same frame. New world.

Line them up and the belt, the life and mana orbs, the Char and Spells buttons sit exactly where they did in 1996. Everything around them was rebuilt by hand, in three dimensions, at eye level.

III · The trailer

See it in motion

Captured in-engine. Tristram by lantern light, the Cathedral below, and the dead that wait there. Turn the sound up.

Now showing · Diablo 3D trailer Watch on YouTube

Night has fallen over Tristram. Lantern light spills from thatched windows. Griswold's hammer rings across the square, the old well waits beneath the moon, and the Cathedral stands silent on the hill. You remember this place. Now you walk its cobbles on your own two feet.

Then the guitar starts. You know the one.

IV · The town square

Home, by lantern light

Every building rebuilt in timber, thatch and stone, laid out from the original town map, tile for tile. Linger a while. It has been a long time.

1:1

Tile for tile

The roads, the river, the graveyard path. Laid out from the original map, so your feet still know the way.

9

Familiar souls

Every townsperson where you left them, speaking their original lines in their original voices.

An endless night

Stars over thatched roofs, mist on the grass, lantern light pooling in the puddles of the square.

That guitar

The original music and sound, drawn from your own copy of the game. Close your eyes and it is 1996 again.

V · The souls of Tristram

Everyone you remember

VI · Beneath the church

The Cathedral

Chapter I

King Leoric went mad.

Chapter II

His son Albrecht vanished beneath the church.

Chapter III

Archbishop Lazarus led the men of Tristram down after him. Few came back.

Chapter IV

Now the bells are silent, and something waits below.

Candlelight, bone and blood.

Every layout drawn by a port of the original level generator, so no two descents are the same.

VII · Choose your hero

Three paths into the dark

Original base and maximum stats, original starting gear. The same three heroes, now with steel in your own hands.

VIII · Bestiary

What waits below

Every monster keeps its original life, damage, to-hit chance and habits. Zombies shamble. The Fallen flee when a pack-mate dies, then rally with a war cry. Hold your torch to them, if you dare.

IX · Grimoire

Fire and lightning

Read spells from books and scrolls or draw them from charged staves. Mana costs and book levels come straight from the game's spell table. Go on. Click a page to cast.

XI · Forged from the original

The old rules, kept

The original to-hit, damage and critical strikes. Block and armour, hit recovery, weapon bonuses against undead and animals, durability and repair. Item prefixes and suffixes roll by the original affix rules.
